Huon Pine only grows in the southern and western rainforests of Tasmania. The wood has a rich golden texture and exquisite smell and touch. It is very durable and its strong oil makes it water resistant. Several examples of Huon Pine are believed to be over 2000 years old. Blackwood
Blackwood is a member of the wattle family and is a hardwood. It is grown throughout Tasmainia's native forests. The timber radiates a subtle beauty and the colours range from light golden brown to deep brown, sometimes with a reddish tinge and occasionally shows black streaks. Character is added by the grain, which can be straight or wavy with a natural luster.
